Gripen Fighter Jets Alerted In Hungary
Two Hungarian Gripen fighter planes were alerted on Thursday because of a Boeing 767 Canadian airliner, the Defence Ministry told state news agency MTI. The aircraft entered Slovak air space without contacting Slovak air control. The pilots still did not get in touch with Slovak air control after Slovak fighter planes intercepted the plane.

NATO’s Combined Air Operations Centre then ordered an alert for the Hungarian air defence.

Two Hungarian Gripen fighter jets took off from the Kecskemét air base shortly after 7 a.m. and established radio contract with the pilots of the airliner, who then contacted Hungarian ground control by radio. The fighter jets escorted the airliner until it left Hungarian airspace.
