The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an international organisation located in Korea, aimed at facilitating green investments. Its primary aim is to assist developing countries and countries with economies in transition in implementing the development of a low-emission green economy.
For this purpose, it provides professional support and networking opportunity to its member states. This new kind of economic development of the countries may ensure a long-term inclusive competitiveness, and at the same time it is the most essential element of fighting climate change.
The Institute is strongly involved in international climate policy negotiations and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It also supports the implementation of the new Convention of Paris, among others by putting into practice the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC), by preparing projects.
The Status Agreement signed today establishes the requirements for the cooperation between the Institute and Hungary starting from next year.
Hungary has outstanding results in water management and energy efficiency from among the key operational area of the GGGI. Our country wishes to rely on this as part of the international climate funding strategy, in cooperation with the organisation.
In the upcoming years, Hungary – based on its climate policy activity – can be an example to other countries within the framework of regional and trilateral cooperations.
