Serbian Fake Euro Seller Gets Suspended Sentence In Szeged

A Serbian man has been given a two-year prison sentence suspended for five years for selling counterfeit 100-euro notes in Szeged, the Csongrad County prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday. The man was found guilty of importing and selling counterfeit money in Hungary, and was expelled and banned from returning for five years, spokesman Ferenc Szanka said.
The man received twenty 100-euro notes in Serbia on April 14 and was offered 45,000 forints for travelling to Hungary and selling the notes for 31,000 forints each at a petrol station in Szentes.
The buyer noticed that the money was not authentic and reported the man to the authorities.
The ruling is not final and the prosecutor has submitted an appeal for a real prison sentence.
