Hungarian Government's Daily Mail Ad Costs Ft 21 mn

The message sent by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán three days before the referendum on EU membership coincides with the answer provided by the office of government spokesman Zoltán Kovács that Ft 21 million had been spent on the advertisement.
Viktor Orbán who, according to Népszabadság, has been engaging in a freedom struggle against the EU, is the first and so far only EU leader to directly concern himself with the British referendum campaign.
Népszabadság says the advertisement is interesting in light of what Prime Minister’s Office leader János Lázár told his regular weekly press briefing on Thursday: that the government does not intend to take a stand in connection with the British referendum.
Kovács told the state news channel Monday night that the government advertisement would have an impact as the Hungarian position has been re-evaluated recently and what the Hungarian prime minister thinks about the issue “carries weight.”
