Sweden Threatens To Sue Hungary
- 6 Oct 2016 9:00 AM
Five Nordic countries recently sent a letter to the European Commission asking it to ensure that Hungary honours its obligations under the Dublin regulations.
The Swedish Immigration Office says about 1,000 asylum seekers are staying in Sweden who were registered in Hungary as asylum seekers.
In response, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said “the opinion of 3.3 million Hungarians is more important to us than the views of Sweden’s justice minister”.
Hungary maintains that the asylum seekers first entered the EU in Greece.
