Kósa: Opposition Unaware Of Rules Of Democracy

During Tuesday’s vote on a constitutional amendment bill seeking to ban the settlement of “foreign populations” in Hungary, Kósa said the opposition neglected the opinion of 3.36 million people who expressed at an Oct. 2 plebiscite that they reject EU quotas.
At Tuesday’s vote, radical nationalist Jobbik leader Gábor Vona ended up teaming with opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) leader Ferenc Gyurcsány and the opposition Socialists, he added.
“The opposition is irresponsible and unserious,” Kósa told a press conference. In the wake of the unsuccessful attempt to amend the constitution, the justice minister will assess the situation, including existing cardinal laws and already ratified international regulations, Kósa said.
He cited the example of international regulations that ban enmass population transfers and oblige governments to act against such moves.
The position of the Constitutional Court is being sought in this issue, as requested by the ombudsman, he added. Kósa congratulated Donald Trump for winning the US presidential election and the Republican Party for their majorities in Congress and the Senate.
One of the most important campaign issues in the US was the handling of migration, and it appears that US voters did not opt to support migration but to eliminate its causes, he said.
