MTI Stifles Statement Critical Of MTVA
The Hungarian Jewish religious community Thursday issued a statement in response to a report broadcast by state TV channel M1 on Wednesday showing a clip of the ayatollah Ali Khamenei calling György Soros an evil Zionist-American multi-billionaire, but state news agency MTI refused to issue the Mazsihisz statement, 444.hu website writes.

The Jewish community wanted to draw attention to the fact that such fear-mongering evokes unpleasant memories in the community and that this kind of language is unacceptable in the Jewish-Christian cultural sphere.

MTI said the Mazsihisz statement runs counter to a legal regulation and that under this regulation it is entitled to deny certain public statements.

The specific regulation says the statement cannot violate the “good reputation and business interests of the public media and cannot be directed against any organisation or employee of the public media”.

Hirado.hu argued that criticisms of the MTVA story published in the online media were unfair.
