The announcement in official gazette Magyar Közlöny states that the paintings will be displayed in the Hungarian National Gallery.
Art historian Péter Molnos said the paintings were an important part of the 1939 Hungarian art exhibition in Warsaw, at which the painter himself was present.
In the series, historical Hungarian figures King Ulászló I, King Károly Róbert and István Báthory, as well as Polish heroes Queen Hedwig, John Sobieski, Josef Bem and Jozef Pilsudski, are portrayed as witnesses to the promise of eternal friendship along with Regent Miklós Horthy.
The pictures were hidden for 70 years, as their owner had them rolled up.
