Organic Product Sales in Hungary Growing Significantly

The sales of organic products in Hungary rose by 28pc between 2023 and 2025, almost double the pace of growth for the food and beverage market as a whole during that period, the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (OMKi) told MTI.
Sales in value terms reached HUF 53.8bn. Sales in volume rose by 26pc. According to the research institute, the domestic market for organic products is still in the early stages of development, with demand increasing.
The popularity of organic products can be boosted primarily by a favourable price-to-value ratio. Between 2023 and 2025, food prices rose by 34.5pc while the average price of organic products increased by only 11.2pc.
In Hungary the area under organic cultivation is close to 400,000 hectares.
