The future of the Hungarian economy is being decided right now because the locations of Europe’s green industry hubs are also being decided now, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told ruling Fidesz’s 30th party congress, adding that this required major private investment.
Orbán said the lesson learnt from the 2002 election defeat was that “we believed that if we live in democracy, nothing threatens us anymore”,
The Hungarian left’s European Parliament and local election campaigns are being financed from Brussels, the communications director of ruling Fidesz, István Hollik said.
Opposition party LMP co-leader Péter Ungár was chosen at the green party’s conference on Saturday to lead the party’s list in the 2024 European Parliament election.
