3 Top Places For Tastiest Schnitzel In Budapest
Many countries have their own versions of fried meat: the Japanese call it tonkatsu, the Austrians have schnitzel, and of course the Hungarian version is also quite famous.

In Hungary, Sunday lunch means schnitzel and, of course, chicken soup. Let’s take a look at the places you should check for an excellent schnitzel.

1. Buja Disznók

The market hall building on Hold utca, a few minutes walk from Kossuth tér, is worth a visit in itself, but on the first floor you will also find “Buja Disznók” (Luscious Swines), a restaurant specializing in schnitzels.

Bold visitors can try other pork-based delicacies, like lung stew or pig’s ears. Have some pickles from Vecsés, some potato salad and some fresh sourdough bread with it for an authentic experience.

Address: 1054 Budapest,  Hold u. 13.

2. Csirke Csibész

Csirke csibész (Chicken Bandit) has been a mainstay for the young party audience in Budapest for a long time. If you are fed up with kebab but in the mood for some Hungarian flavours after 11pm, you will not be disappointed at this tiny corner bistro in Nagymező utca.

Csirke Csibész is a place where schnitzel is always fresh, pickles are always tasty, prices are always low and portions are always huge. Last but not least, the bistro is located only a few minutes walk from the party centre of the city.

Address: 1065 Budapest, Nagymező u. 35.

3. A Séf Asztala

Shopping is not the only reason to visit WestEnd City Center, one of the biggest shopping centres in Budapest. You’ll find a restaurant called “A Séf Asztala” (the Chef’s Table) here, offering the Hungarian street food favourite.

The owner is András Wolf, who worked in several successful restaurants around the city. In addition to different types of schnitzel, you can taste sausages in genuinely original flavours, such as the lemon-chicken or the apple-liver sausage.

Address: 1055 Budapest, Kossuth Lajos tér 6.
