Big Booze Move: Hungary's Gov't Signs Strategic Cooperation Deal with Dreher Breweries
The government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Budapest-based Dreher Breweries on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said a HUF 100bn investment programme underway at Dreher would bring brewing in the capital's District X "to the next level".

Dreher Breweries provides the livelihood for 8,500 Hungarian households, while 86pc of its suppliers are local SMEs, he added.

Dreher Breweries, now owned by Japan's Asahi, has a 170-year history.

The strategic cooperation agreement is the 103rd one the government has signed with corporations.

Meanwhile, Building markets for Hungarian wine priority - govt commissioner

The government commissioner for wine marketing highlighted the need to focus efforts on market building for locally produced wines in a statement issued by the Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency.

Pal Rokusfalvy noted that export volume of Hungarian wine had climbed by 15.5pc in 2024, even as global wine consumption dropped 3.1pc. In 2025, 40.3 million bottles of Hungarian wine were exported, and sales in Germany were up 11pc, he added.

Rokusfalvy said the share of bulk wine in exports had fallen from 70pc in 2022 to 63pc in 2025.
