The Department of Defence has not revealed exactly where the deepened fence is.
To date, no one has been caught for constructing illegal tunnels on the Hungarian-Serbian or Hungarian-Croatian borders, which are also protected by cameras, heat sensors and police officers.
The deep fence cost Ft 38 million, according to HVG.
The first reports of illegal tunnels came last year, although it is not clear how and when the tunnels were made.
Most recently, Police reported the discovery of an underground escape route on October 5.
Over the past month, tunnels have also been found near Szeged, Ásotthalom and Kelebia.
