The protocol was developed by the ministry in collaboration with the National Centre for Public Health and the Operational Staff and will remain in force until revoked, depending on the epidemiological situation.
It states that "Hungary is currently safe, therefore the start of traditional education on September 1 is justified".
The protocol prescribes the use of disinfectants, and states that the annual year-opening conferences for the heads of schools will take place online.
Only healthy, asymptomatic students and employees may be on school premises, and parents must notify the school if their child has a suspected or confirmed coronavirus infection.
The use of larger classrooms is recommended and physical distancing of 1.5 metres is advised in public spaces.
It is possible, but not obligatory, to wear a mask during teaching hours and classes. Physical education classes should be held outdoors.
School leaders are advised to organise domestic field trips instead of travelling abroad.
