Budapest Zoo is celebrating its birthday once again! Although this year doesn't mark a round anniversary, Hungary’s most-visited attraction, which first opened its gates on 9 August 1866, certainly deserves a celebration every year.
On the 29 August the Night of the Zoos will be organized for the fourteenth times. Among the Association of the Hungarian Zoos and Aquariums (MÁASZ – in Hungarian), 11 members will reopen their gate after closing hour, to hold a special night event, with various programs on the last Friday of August.
Zoo visitors can now see the 9.2 and 8.4 kilogram tiger cubs born in mid-April at the Budapest Zoo, which were presented to the public on Thursday. The city park institution is asking for visitors' help in naming them, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden just announced.
