HUF 5 Billion of PCR Tests Scrapped in Hungary
The state is scrapping Ft 5 billion worth of PCR tests bought last year that expired this spring, the weekly Jelen reports, citing unnamed sources.

The destruction of the expired stock cost an additional Ft 200 million.

After the National Hospital Directorate General (OKFŐ) ordered the destruction of the expired tests, Jelen requested related data of public interest.

The paper asked OKFŐ what assets, how many are being scrapped and how much taxpayers’ money the destruction costs.

However, OKFŐ refused to answer all three questions, saying that revealing the data would jeopardise the directorate’s ability to perform its tasks.
