Hungarian Gov’t Ready to Talk to Filling Station Operators
The government insists on maintaining a price cap on fuel, but is ready to negotiate with representatives of small filling stations, Innovation and Technology Ministry state secretary László György said yesterday after meeting delegates of the entrepreneurs’ association VOSZ and filling station network operator Mobil Petrol.

He said the parties agreed that the situation would be handled constructively and that the common goal is to keep inflation in check.

The price cap has recently been extended for another three months from February 15, leaving it in force until May 15.

According to György, Mobil Petrol said it did not want to take part in a protest and would not sign a related petition, “as their aim is not to aggravate the situation but to find a constructive solution”.

Negotiations are continuing with VOSZ and Mobil Petrol.

Representatives of small filling stations may submit constructive suggestions in the second half of the week.
