Thousands of Ukrainian refugees face eviction from Hungarian state-funded accommodation in a move by Budapest that human rights activists say could contravene EU law.
The decision in Kyiv to stop Lukoil shipments to Hungary and Slovakia was likely coordinated in Brussels as “they cannot stand it that Hungary has not backed down under pressure”, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister, said.
Hungarian Interchurch Aid has helped several thousand refugees at its Budapest centre for supporting Ukrainian refugees that opened eighteen months ago, the organisation’s head said on Friday, after meeting with Transcarpathia governor Viktor Mikita.
