Purchase Limits on Price-Capped Food Set by Aldi & Lidl in Hungary
Discount retail chain Lidl has introduced shopping limits on price-capped food staples, following a similar measure by Aldi, to ensure the supply of these products in the run-up to the holiday season.

Lidl aims to meet surging demand for products regulated by the government and is not planning to introduce further limits. The company is monitoring the situation and is stocking up to guarantee availability.

The limit for sugar and flour and potatoes was set at 5kg per purchase, while for cooking oil the maximum limit is 3 litres and for milk 6 litres. The maximum limit for pre-packaged chicken breast is 4kg but there are no restrictions at the butcher counter.

Aldi introduced tighter shopping limits on Saturday, with purchasing restrictions set at 1 litre for cooking oil and milk, and 1kg for other price-capped goods.
