The age group most actively seeking online porn is between 30 and 39 years old. Hungary’s National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has produced these figures in order to draw attention to the harmful effects of pornographic content and the need to protect minors.

The ten most popular pornographic websites attract about 1.7 million users a week.

Between 16 May and 16 June, the most visited adult website generated 400,000 more viewers in the course of a month, and its daily visits were nearly three times more than any of its competitors. The top ten includes two Hungarian website.

According to NMHH information, there are no significant trends in the consumption of the most-visited adult websites, with a minimal increase in visitors in the middle of the week.

Between Tuesdays and Thursdays, about 4.7% more people visit the examined websites compared to Fridays and Mondays.

Over the one-month period, nearly 2.5 million people visited one of the aforementioned adult websites, nearly 70% of them men.

This means that every other man among internet users in Hungary consumes some form of sexual content at least once a month.

The adult film industry is one of the most sensitive legal areas globally, and is generally taboo in public discourse.

The cross-border industry is opaque, and individual governments or international organisations are unable to regulate its operations effectively.

Another distinctive dimension in the composition of users is age, as different groups consume adult content differently to some extent.

During the examined period, half of the 2.5 million users who visited the ten sites were in the 18-29 and 30-39 age brackets, and one-fifth were internet users aged between 40 and 49.

The consumption of pornography appears to be much more significant on mobile phones, as nearly three times as many people accessed one of the top ten sites only from their mobiles, while fewer than half a million accessed them from their PCs or both devices.
