Hungary's Consumer Price Index Up Again in November

The KSH data show food prices rose 4.9pc in November. The price of flour jumped 39.3pc, milk prices rose 16.6pc and the price of eating out increased 7.9pc, but noodle prices fell 6.4pc, margarine prices dropped 2.7pc and the price of sugar was 5.8pc lower.
Household energy prices fell 3.2pc. Gas prices were 6.3pc lower and electricity prices edged down 0.3pc.
Consumer durable prices inched down 0.2pc.
Motor fuel prices rose 0.7pc.
Prices of spirits and tobacco products increased 4.0pc and clothing prices rose 2.8pc. Service prices increased 7.0pc.
Harmonised CPI, adjusted for better comparison with other European Union member states, was 3.9pc.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile fuel and food prices, was 4.4pc.
The CPI calculated with a basket of goods and services used by pensioners was 3.7pc.
In a month-on-month comparison, consumer prices edged up 0.5pc as food prices increased 0.9pc and motor fuel prices rose 2.4pc.
Commenting on the data, National Economy Minister Marton Nagy said the November CPI was favourable and persistently low, in line with market expectations.
He added that government measures to bring down inflation, such as an online platform monitoring prices at the biggest supermarket chains, would remain in place.
