Online Retailers in Hungary Back EC Proposals on E-Commerce Imports
The Ecommerce Hungary Association has voiced members' support for proposals by the European Commission to ensure safe and sustainable e-commerce imports as well as a level playing field in the single market.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ecommerce Hungary Association noted that around 4.6 billion low-value consignments -- worth EUR 150m or less -- had entered the EU market in 2024. Many of those goods were found to be non-compliant with European legislation on safety, quality and environmental standards, it said.

The association welcomed proposals for customs reform, coordinated controls between customs and market surveillance authorities, as well as coordinated actions on product safety and enhancing market supervision through the use of digital tools.
