Shooting in Hungary: Apple’s Globetrotting Action-Adventure Movie ‘Matchbox’
Apple Original Films’ Matchbox, a live-action adaptation of the iconic Mattel car toy brand, has added Danai Gurira to its growing cast.

She joins John Cena, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro in the film, which is described as a globetrotting action-adventure about childhood friends reuniting to prevent a global catastrophe.

Directed by Sam Hargrave (“Extraction”), “Matchbox” is currently filming in Hungary and Slovakia, among other international locations. The screenplay is written by David Coggeshall (“The Family Plan”) and Jonathan Tropper (“The Adam Project”).

Produced by Skydance and Mattel Films, the project continues Apple’s push into high-profile action films. Gurira, known for her work as Michonne in “The Walking Dead” and Okoye in “Black Panther”, also recently starred in and wrote for “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who” Live.

No release date has been announced for “Matchbox”.
