Historic Múzeum Kávéház in Budapest to be Revived
Eventrend, one of Hungary’s largest hospitality groups, is preparing to relaunch the historic Múzeum Kávéház near the National Museum in Budapest’s Eighth District.

The venue will be operated by Múzeum Café Operation, which secured the lease in a tender run by the district’s council.

Zoltán Körössy, a co-owner of Eventrend and CEO of Múzeum Café told HVG that the opening is planned for mid-2026.

The company will also renovate the protected café at the corner of Múzeum körút and Bródy Sándor utca, which features frescoes by the celebrated 19th-centiry artist Károly Lotz.

Eventrend runs several prominent establishments, including the Centrál Café, Gundel and the New York Café.
