Wolt Tightens Beverage Rules: Age-Verification System Rolls Out
Wolt has developed a comprehensive action plan with the Ministry for National Economy aimed at promoting responsible operations in the domestic local commerce sector, the company said in a statement.

Wolt will tighten its internal rules on the delivery of alcoholic beverages and energy drinks and will develop a digital age-verification system.

The company will reduce delivery fees in nearly 50 towns to make its services more affordable outside Budapest and will also review its user compensation system.

The announcement follows a September case in which the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority imposed HUF 200 million in consumer protection fines on Wolt.

The authority found that Wolt Services Hungary Kft. sold alcohol and energy drinks to customers under 18, advertised misleading promotions, and failed to display all required discounted unit prices.
