Parking Fee Payment in Budapest Goes Mobile Only

From Wednesday public car parking fees in Budapest will only be payable by either mobile apps, text messages or voice calls, based on a 2024 decision of the General Assembly of Budapest scraping parking meters.

Parking fees will also rise from July 1. From Wednesday, the parking fee in "A" waiting zones will be HUF 800/hour, in "B" HUF 600/hour, in "C" HUF 400/hour, and in "D" waiting zones HUF 300/hour.

The night parking fee in guarded, fee-paying P+R parking lots will increase to HUF 300/hour.

The changes coincide with changes in nighttime public transportation timetables.

The Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) earlier said the new system will offer passengers greater coverage and faster travel in Budapest and the agglomeration areas.
