Used Car Insights: Average Prices in Hungary
Demand on Hungary's used car market strengthened in June, while the average age of vehicles on offer declined, according to the latest monthly data published jointly by Használtautó.hu and the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH).

The number of inquiries recorded on Használtautó.hu reached 385,400 in June, up from 366,500 in the same month last year. This represents an increase of nearly 19,000 inquiries, indicating continued strong interest from buyers.

Average asking prices also rose slightly over the year. Vehicles listed on the platform were advertised at an average price of HUF 5.5 million in June, compared with HUF 5.4 million a year earlier.

According to Használtautó.hu, the higher average asking price reflects an improvement in the overall quality of vehicles available on the market.

The average mileage of advertised cars fell to 171,400 kilometres from 179,400 kilometres a year earlier, while the average age of listed vehicles declined from 13.15 years to 12.60 years.

Cars priced below HUF 2.5 million continued to make up the largest single price category, accounting for 35.7% of all listings. However, their share of the market fell by 4.6 percentage points over the past year, while the HUF 2.5 million to HUF 10 million price range continued to gain ground.

One of the strongest trends in June was the rapid expansion of hybrid vehicles on the used car market. The number of hybrid models listed on Használtautó.hu increased by 42.2% compared with June 2025, marking a record level of supply.

Buyer interest in hybrid vehicles grew even faster. The number of inquiries for hybrids rose by 57% year-on-year, suggesting that the broader selection attracted significant attention from prospective buyers.

Despite the growing popularity of hybrid models, petrol-powered vehicles remained by far the most common choice on the market, accounting for 48% of all listings.

Demand for petrol cars also increased considerably, with inquiries rising by more than 14,000 compared with a year earlier to reach 206,200.

Diesel vehicles, meanwhile, continued their gradual decline in market share, reflecting the longer-term shift in buyer preferences.

Volkswagen remained the most frequently advertised brand on the platform in June, followed by BMW and Ford.

Opel moved ahead of Mercedes-Benz to become the fourth most commonly listed brand, while Skoda climbed to seventh place, overtaking Toyota.

Among individual models, the Skoda Octavia became the most frequently advertised used car, moving ahead of the Ford Focus over the past year. The Kia Ceed also improved its position, overtaking the Suzuki Swift to rank fourth.

Toyota models recorded particularly strong gains. The Corolla climbed from 15th to ninth place among the most commonly advertised models, while the Yaris moved from 14th to 10th.

The Suzuki Swift remained the most affordable model among the ten most frequently listed cars, with an average asking price of HUF 1.94 million.

At the same time, it experienced the largest price increase in the top ten, with its average advertised price rising by 16.9% compared with June last year.

The data also indicate that the country's most popular used car models are becoming younger overall.

Almost every model in the top ten recorded a lower average age than a year earlier, with the Skoda Octavia showing the biggest improvement as its average age fell by 11.8%.
