- 27 Aug 2026 12:33 PM
Magyar said the measure, to take effect from January 1, 2027, would benefit "several hundred thousand" pensioners, adding that the Tisza Party was fulfilling a campaign pledge.
"Our seniors deserve security, respect and dignity after a life of hard work," he said.
The minimum old-age pension has been set at HUF 28,500/month since 2008.
Magyar noted that government decisions to exempt prescription medicines from VAT and to reduce the VAT on firewood from 27pc to 5pc would also benefit seniors.
