New Independent Art Fair in Budapest to Showcase Contemporary Works, 9 - 11 October
The first Budapest Independent Art Fair (BIAF) will present work by local galleries and artists on a mission to make contemporary art feel approachable rather than intimidating. Admission is free of charge.

Organised by three independent Budapest galleries - DINDIN Gallery, Ladó Gallery and Start Gallery - the fair will feature nine contemporary galleries and creative spaces, presenting photography, painting and multidisciplinary works by artists from different generations.

Participating spaces also include Artphoto Gallery, Dugattyús Budapest, me | mo | art gallery, Pikszis Art Point and Youngart Gallery.

The organisers describe BIAF as a meeting point for independent artists, galleries and art lovers, with visitors invited to explore the works by talking to their creators in an informal setting.

The programme also includes live performances.

For instance, on 10 October from 11:30 to 12:00, Willany Leó Improvisation Dance Theatre will create a performance live in response to the space, music and other performers.

On 11 October from 14:00 to 14:30, accordionist and composer Ádám Móser will close the fair with an improvisational concert drawing on French chanson, Argentine tango, klezmer and Balkan influences.

The fair takes place on the upper gallery level of the historic Klauzál Square Market Hall at Klauzál tér 11 in District VII.

Built in 1897 and renovated in 2015, the market hall is in the heart of Budapest’s historic Jewish Quarter.

The fair is open from 10:00 to 16:00 each day.
