Lithuanian National Day Celebrated In Budapest Music Center
On 20 February at the Budapest Music Center, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Mrs Rasa Kairienė welcomed guests: representatives from the Hungarian government, culture, business, art and science sectors, the Hungarian diplomatic corps, NGO’s and IGO’s, and the Lithuanian community in Hungary.
On the occasion of the 101 years anniversary of the Restoration of the Lithuanian state, Her Excellency also noted the 15th anniversary of Lithuania being a member state of the EU and NATO, as well as becoming a fully-fledged member of the OECD.
While reviewing the dynamics of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Hungary, she welcomed visits and events that took place in 2018 and ongoing common projects, including those in the Western Balkans.
During the diplomatic reception, guests had an opportunity to taste Lithuanian tree cake (šakotis), Lithuanian sweets made by Lithuanian confectionary company “Rūta” and hard cheese “Džiugas“ already well-known in Hungary.
Guests also had an opportunity to take a look at the compilation of video clips presenting Lithuanian culture, cuisine, various businesses and tourism.
