In 2000, first in the line was the Plein Art- Festival of Contemporary Arts, which was a new colourful spot in addition to the traditional Ferencvárosi Nyári Játékok (Ferencváros Summer Festival) and the Ferenc napi búcsú (Ferenc Day Fair).

It introduces new Hungarian productions of the spring season, hosts outstanding foreign companies and includes a ceremony awarding the best artists in Hungarian dance of the past year.
