Budapest Art Weekend: A City-Wide Contemporary Art Showcase
- 25 Nov 2025 6:14 AM
A new and noteworthy addition to the programme is the inclusion of corporate collections, offering a rare look at art typically held in private offices. Visitors will also have the chance to see the top entries from the Colourful Noise video art show.
Explore Through Guided Walks or Solo Visits
The festival’s diverse program — encompassing exhibition spaces, contemporary galleries, artist studios, and alternative venues — is completely free of charge. You can tailor your visit by joining an organized art walk or exploring the locations individually.
The guided "tours" are scheduled from Friday through Sunday, following different routes and times each day, typically lasting between one-and-a-half to two hours. Participants will enjoy mini-guided tours focusing on three or four exhibitions per walk.
According to Eszter Őry, professional director of ArtNESZ Fine Arts Agency (the event organizer), the routes and times have been refined based on feedback from the past two years to better meet visitor expectations.
This year will also see the return of tours specifically designed for young people aged 14–20.
Adding another layer of interest, guides will include professionals from the arts and even the business world, signaling a growing collaboration with the corporate sector.
Highlights and Key Events
The AWB officially kicks off on ‘Day Zero,’ November 27, with the central exhibition, Zones of Opacity, opening at Brody House.
This exhibition features a selection from the STRABAG ART collection in Vienna, complemented by invited artists, and delves into themes of visibility and interpretation. It will be on view until January 9, 2026.
For the duration of the festival, the KPMG headquarters will also open its doors to the public.
-
Friday, November 28: Art walks begin on 12 different routes at four scheduled times. Extra programmes include a guided tour of the Ancora Gallery from Pécs in the afternoon.
-
Saturday, November 29: Walks start on nine routes at three different times. A highlight is the Colourful Noise video art show at Pikszis Kultúrpont at 6 p.m., presenting nearly 800 domestic and international works.
-
Sunday, November 30: Art tours run on five routes at four different times, concluding the festival at 6 p.m. with a chamber concert by the Dolcissimo Morbido Quartet in Enikő Czigány’s studio.
Given the limited capacity for the guided walks, the organizers strongly advise registering as soon as possible at artnesz.hu, where you can also find the full, up-to-date festival information.
