Born in 1983, Éva Polgár started her piano studies in 1990. In 2001, she was admitted to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where her teacher was Hamsa Al-Wadi Juis. He also has a master's degree in South Asian Studies from the same university. His interest in South Asia resulted from living in Gujarat, India as a teenager.
