While lower inflation is an incentive for buyers, he remarked, a question remains over how much of the expected real wage increases will be spent.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán yesterday rejected a Socialist MP’s suggestion that the VAT on staple foods be reduced. Socialist Zoltán Gõgös urged a reduction in the VAT in Parliament Monday afternoon, saying people are going hungry and the present system encourages them to cheat.
