Hungarian ‘Father Of Euro’, Dies Aged 86

Economist and central banker Alexandre Lamfalussy, born as Sándor Lámfalussy in Hungary, has died at the age of 86, his family said on Monday. A resident of Belgium, Lamfalussy was known as “the father of the euro” and for his financial service industry policies. He left his native Hungary in 1949.

A new Hungarian made concert piano, developed under the inspiration of Kossuth Prize-winning pianist Gergely Bogányi, was recently presented to the press in Budapest. The sleek, futuristic Zengafons piano, which would not look out of place on the set of Star Wars, will make its public debut at the Budapest Academy of Music.
