In addition to Hungarian state media, former high-ranking Hungarian intelligence officials also appear to be directly promoting Russian disinformation to the Hungarian public.

Economic research institute Századvég on Tuesday raised its projection for economic growth in Hungary for 2017 to 3.6 percent from 3.2 percent it forecast in September. The think-tank said in its forecast that next year’s growth rate will be lifted by the recently-approved payroll tax cut as well as minimum wage increases for both skilled and unskilled workers.

Peter Foster, the newspaper’s Europe Editor, interviewed the Hungarian prime minister during his recent visit to London. October 23 is a day on which Hungarians should be proud, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at the state commemoration of Hungary’s anti-Soviet uprising of 1956 at Budapest’s Kossuth Square in front of Parliament on Sunday. Even after 60 years, October 23 is still a day that “lifts up and cleanses us”, the prime minister said, calling the national holiday a “shared heritage” of the Hungarian people.

Wholesale vehicle fuel prices in Hungary will rise about 6-13 (EUR 0.02 – 0.04) forints per litre from Saturday, when new rules on excise tax take effect. The price of petrol will rise by 6.4 forints per litre, bringing the price at the pump to around 340 forints.
