Hungarian Ski Parks Open for Season in Budapest Area
Skiing is underway at Hungary's two largest ski parks, with snowmaking keeping several slopes open.

Síaréna Vibe Park in Eplény (western Transdanubia) opened on December 29, as announced on its Facebook page.

Slope 1 (full length) and the T1 training slope are open to skiers and snowboarders, served by a four-seater chairlift and a beginner lift. Snow depth averages 27 cm, slopes are groomed, snowmaking continues, and lessons began December 30.

A recent Facebook update outlined plans: “Snowmaking on the upper section of slope 7 is going well. Upper parts of 1/B and 6 aren't ideal yet, but we expect to open them January 1. On January 2, we'll aim to open the lower section of slope 7 with the 2-seater lift, plus T2 and T4 training slopes. We'll post updates as plans progress.”

At Mátraszentistván ski park (northern Hungary), lessons started Monday morning, December 29. Several slopes and lifts are running, with more training slopes opening as conditions improve.

Snowmaking is key for further openings. Despite tricky weather, prep work continues, so expect snow cannons day and night in coming days.
