Confectioneries in Hungary now Included in New Catering Sector Support Plan by Gov't
- 12 Feb 2026 8:32 AM
Their inclusion in the action plan will translate as HUF 9bn-12bn in support for confectioneries in 2026, the ministry said.
There are over 3,000 confectioneries in Hungary with combined annual revenue of HUF 127bn.
The ministry announced the rollout of the catering industry action plan in January.
In the framework of the scheme, representation costs will be tax deductible up to 1pc of turnover but at most HUF 100m, while restaurants' tourism development contribution will be halved to 2pc.
Restaurants will be eligible to pay a preferential tax rate on service charges distributed among staff over the minimum wage.
Subsidised "Kisfaludy" credit will be paired with a matching grant, up to HUF 5m, for investment or working capital.
The government will also weigh a shift to digital invoicing from 2027.
