The IMF’s regional economic outlook report for Europe November issue said domestic demand was likely to expand by 2.7%, while gross investment as a share of GDP could reach 20.9%. The European Commission has raised its projections for GDP growth in Hungary to 3.7% for this year and 3.6% for 2018 in a fresh forecast. The projections for 2017 and 2018 were raised from 3.6% and 3.5%, respectively, in the EC’s spring economic forecast, released in May. The EC publishes such forecasts three times a year.

Index.hu reports that Budapest signed a contract with Russian engineering firm Metrowagonmash in 2015 worth HUF 69 billion (USD 256.5 million) for 222 refurbished metro cars, an average price of HUF 308.9 million per car. The cars had been running on the badly deteriorated M3 metro line for 40 years before being renovated.

Industrial producer prices went up by an annual 4.1 percent in September, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday. Prices for domestic sales were up by 4.8 percent while export prices rose by 3.7 percent. In a month-on-month comparison, industrial producer prices were up by 1.3 percent as domestic prices were up by 0.9 percent while export prices were up by 1.5 percent, KSH said.
