Charges have been filed for organising an illegal assembly in connection with the 2025 Pécs Pride march, according to the Pécs District Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutors have proposed a fine against the organiser after the event went ahead despite an official police ban and a Supreme Court ruling upholding that decision.

For nearly forty years, suicide rates in Hungary were on a consistent decline. However, a recent alert from the Hungarian Medical Chamber (MOK) suggests this progress has stalled. According to MOK, the downward trend broke in 2019, marking a turnaround not seen since the 1980s. The figures are stark: Hungary now averages one suicide every six hours.

This year’s Tour de Hongrie cycling race will take place mainly in southern Hungary from May 13 to 17. Organizers presented the route for the 47th edition in Budapest on Tuesday. The five-stage event will pass through 70 towns in seven counties, with 15 intermediate sprint points for bonus seconds and 12 categorized climbs.
