Ms. Marton shared her personal memories of a dark period of modern Hungarian history and recalled the challenging research effort that went into the writing of her latest book.

She stressed the need for young people in both Hungary and the U.S. to learn what life was like under Communism.

Ambassador Kounalakis reminded the Hungarian and international audience of the important role played by her predecessors in providing material as well as moral support to persecuted families such as the Martons."
