Hungarian Hotels Argue For Lower Taxes
"The Hungarian hotel association has sent a seven-point suggestion to the government to induce growth in their industry.

They suggest cuts in the VAT on hotel and catering services, the restoration of tax-free holiday coupons, the introduction of a Széchenyi recreation card, more marketing of tourism, the reintroduction of state subsidy on tourism tax, allowing the state health fund OEP to finance hotel services, and cheap loans for tourism businesses.

In addition, they argue, Budapest needs a large capacity convention centre, while airports in Budapest and important regional destinations should be developed. The association suggests that a conference on problems in Budapest tourism be held in the autumn."
