'Alicja Dobrucka', Before Exhibition Gallery, From 8 September
"The Before Exhibition Gallerty proudly announces the exhibition of Polish artist, Alicja Dobrucka, titled I like you, I like you a lot.

In this work the artist responds to the personal experience of death and mourning, and the absence of a beloved person by bluring the boundaries of fine art and documentary practice. The camera functions as a therapeutic tool in order to deal with a family tragedy, the loss of the 15-year-old brother of the artist.

Although the images are continous reminders of transience, at the same time they are creating fragments of memory for eternity. So they are raising questions of the forever dilemmas of the human existence, the genre of photography and the representation of death.

The artist with this series was selected to the Fresh Faced & Wiled Exed 2010, the yearly exhibition of young talented art graduates of the prestigious Photographers’ Gallery in London and recivied the highly competitive Deutche Bank Pyramid Award in Photography.
