Applications will be accepted at the Hungarian consulates in Bucharest, Miercurea Ciuc and Cluj.

Ethnic Hungarians in Slovakia have adopted a wait-and-see attitude, and about 100 people have inquired about the issue at consulates in Bratislava and Kosice.

In principle Ukraine does not recognise dual citizenship, but in practice this will presumably work out differently for the 150,000 ethnic Hungarians there, Népszabadság writes.

More than 15,000 residents of Israel have Hungarian citizenship. Foreign Minister János Martonyi said during a visit in November that the Israeli government accepts and supports dual citizenship."
