New Year’s Youth Concert, National Concert Hall Budapest, 1 January
"It has become a tradition for the Palace of Arts to herald the New Year with a performance of Joseph Haydn’s The Creation. In the afternoon prior to the evening concert, conductor Ádám Fischer presents a cross-section of the oratorio to a young audience. This matinée performance highlights the parts of the work that use music to help the audience “visualise” and attune their ears to the Biblical creation story, and demonstrates the wonderful power of music, a power that cannot be expressed in words.
