National Holiday in Hungary on March 15: Orbán to Deliver Speech at Budapest's Kossuth Square

Prime Minister Viktor Orban will deliver a speech in Kossuth Square in front of Parliament on the 178th anniversary of the 1848-49 revolution and war of independence, the state secretary for international communication and relations said on Thursday.

The organisers will also welcome participants of the Peace March to the programme and speech marking the national holiday, Zoltan Kovacs said on Facebook.

As in previous years, the main events of the national holiday will begin on March 14, with the Kossuth and Szechenyi awards being presented in Parliament, he said.

The Hungarian flag will be raised in Kossuth Square at 7.30am on March 15, and a commemorative ceremony will begin at the same location at 1pm, including Orban's speech, he added.

As part of a programme dubbed Open Parliament, visitors can view the grand staircase, the dome hall, and the Holy Crown in Parliament free of charge from 3pm to 6pm on March 15, he added.
