Hungarian Government Plans Austerity Measures
"The government is seeking proposals from ministries on reducing drug subsidies, cutting funding for Budapest public transport and on introducing an electronic toll system for motorways from the summer of 2013, in order to meet the 2012 and 2013 deficit targets, official gazette Magyar Közlöny reveals.

The government will order a moratorium on procurement of furniture, cars, IT equipment and telephones at some institutions.

A Ft 100 billion austerity package is needed this year and additional income and savings in the hundreds of billions in 2013 to meet the target, said analyst Zsolt Kondrát of MKB bank."
