Budapest Semmelweis University Rector Will Remain In Office Until 31 May
- 11 Apr 2012 9:00 AM
As Tulassay’s term is due to end on June 30 his successor will have to take up the post one month sooner.
Tulassay resigned on Sunday, saying he felt he no longer had Rethelyi’s confidence after the minister sent back the university's fact-finding report on the thesis of former head of state Pal Schmitt without reading it.
Rethelyi consulted Prime Minister Viktor Orban before sending back the report, news website Origo reported on Wednesday.
The university senate subsequently revoked Schmitt’s doctoral degree. "
