In this year the Pannon Wine Challenge is coming forward with a new and a more larger event. For the 13th time, the XIII.Pannon Wine Challenge is giving place for the national wines to compete for the best places, between the 9th and 11th of May.

Currently the top 113 wine producer applied with almost 300 different wine for Hungary’s most prestigious wine competition, that means a 10% percent increase compare it to last year’s event. Similar to last year’s Wine Challenge the most named wine types are the furmint, but in the case of red wines the cabarnet and the „kékfrankos” are also dominating the selection.

The top named region is Tokaj-Hegyalja again, but we have a wide range of other regions coming across from Eger, Szekszárd, and Villany too. After the private competiton day, at the 12th of May we organize an open public day, where the audience could be informed foremost about the annual results.

Within the confines of our rambleing-gustatory tickets, everyone will have the chance to taste the current top wines and to meet the international and world famous jury, moreover everyone could take part a mastercourse hold by the jury.


On the public day, the visitors will have the chance to meet the awarded wine producers, and to taste the top 50 winner wines as well. Beneath the wings of our master course, internationally known professionals will talk about what an authentic atmosphere a good wine has. The course will be hold mostly by Isabelle Legeron, the Master of Wine, who does not really need introduction.

She is widely known from Travel Channel’s popular wine TV show, furthermore Isabelle is a frequent visitor of Hungary. We are going to have Mr. Jamie Goode, the author of the classical “The Science of Wine”, and the indispensable “Authentic Wine” books as well.

His successful British wine blog, the wineanorak.com is also a leader media in his field. At the Inspired Wines course our visitors could also listen an exciting lecture hold by Alder Yarrow and Wojciech Bonkowski about what is the wine that inspire them the most to write, and they will show 3-3 piece to taste.
