Proposed US Sanction on Russia Could Hit Hungary
A bipartisan proposal by US senators would impose a 500% tariff on US exports from countries that do not abandon their Russian energy imports, if Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to refuse to engage in good faith ceasefire negotiations with Ukraine or violates any agreement, Bloomberg reported.

The sanctions were outlined in a press release by Democrat Richard Blumenthal and Republican Lindsey Graham.

Hungary could easily be targeted by this, as more than 80% of crude oil imports and a significant portion of natural gas imports still come from Russia, 444 adds.

The proposal would go beyond the sanctions imposed on Russia in recent years and would probably provoke a serious confrontation with major consumers of Russian energy, such as India and China, Bloomberg writes.
